The Meenakshi temple is a historic Hindu temple located in the heart of Madurai city.

It is dedicated to Meenakshi, a form of Parvati and her consort, sundarswar, a form of shiv.

The temple forms the heart and lifeline of the 2500-year-old city of Madurai. There are an estimated 33,000 sculptures in the temple and it was in the list of top 30 nominees of the "New Seven Wonders of the World".

Opening hour for the temple is 5am to 12:30/4pm to 10pm all day. There is no entry fee to visit the temple. Photography is not allowed inside the temple.

Azhagar Kovil temple is one of the famous temples situated at the foothills of Alagar hills. This is important Vishnu mandir,this is one of the most ancient temples in India.It is one of the 108 Divyadesam dedicated to Vishnu, who is worshipped as Kallazhagar and his consort Lakshmi as Thirumamagal. The temple is surrounded by the ruins of a historic fort.

The impressive main tower at the entrance, believed to have been built by the Pandyan Kings, has some beautiful sculptures depicting scenes from the epics.

Tirupparankunram Murugan Temple is is situated 8 km south from Madurai district, dedicated to the Lord Subramanya. 
This holy place is an early rock-cut temple which has cells that house the sanctums of Subramanya, Durga, Vinayakar, Shiva, and Vishnu.All the statues are carved on the wall of the parankundram rock. A curious feature of this temple is that the Gods Shiva and Vishnu face each other.
